Future File - by Tyla Marie

I have been reading a story set in the future called Space Nuts Light Speed by Simon Cooke. Just like in this story, I have written a historical file about an object we use on earth, that someone could read about in the future.

This is a pencil. People use to use these to write with on a piece of paper. When using a pencil, you hold between your fingers and place the carbon bit on the paper. You can do many things with this like wiggle it between your fingers, draw pictures and write stories. As you can see there is a rubber. The rubber rubs out mistakes and can make your work as good as new as long as you don't press the carbon to hard.

Sea Turtles - by Kaycee

I have been reading a story called Plight Of The Sea Turtle. On our reading activity we had to create a presentation that tells people a fact or 2 about each species of sea turtle. If you want to know more then click through my presentation.

School Camp

On a beautiful sunny week, our Yr 5 & 6 students had a three day camp on. It started on Wednesday, and went until Friday which was the last day. On our camp there were 6 teams and we had our items too, which was awesome and I hope you like my recount.
The thing I am was looking forward to Is roller-blading and kayaking. The reason why I was looking forward to roller-blading was because I have not done roller skating in 2 years and I need to improve in it. And the reason Im looking forward to kayaking is because I have not been able to go swimming and do kayaking at all.The thing that I remember being funny, was when we did our item for the concert. Mr Somerville forgot to cut the music, and we did not have moves for that part. So we just followed Grace’s moves, and we survived it. We had a good reaction thanks to Grace. My goal for camp was to change my behaviour and improve my kayaking skills. The reason my goal Is to change my behavior is because I was most told off then before. And I achieved it, and my kayaking I achieved that goal too because I kayaked to the red pole and back to the beach that's how I achieved it. Well its been a tough week, and everyone was really tired from that long day at Swimarama. The thing I was most sad about is camp ending.I miss camp already.

Team Work by Maria Samuela

I've been reading Team Work written by Maria Samuela .This story is about a netball team working together and trying their best at netball.
In this team there is a girl called Ina she is the goal shooter for this team and in this story she had the ball and she was far away from the hoop but then she saw her friend Lucy waving her arms out. She could have passed the ball to Lucy but she risked it and took a shoot . Luckily she got a score.

Here are the Positions on a net ball court.

Year 5/6 Camp - Jonita

I can’t believe that the Year 5&6 camp is over. Camp Respect was amazing because first of all I was a leader, and second of all it gave me a chance to get to know everyone in my team better. It was also cool because we got to do exciting things with our teachers and played fun games with other teams.

Like I said on my previous blog post, I was mostly looking forward kayaking. We actually did kayaking on Thursday morning, the second day of camp. Kayaking was not as exciting as I thought it would be. It wasn’t that entertaining thing because I kept of getting cuts and I wanted to have more turns on kayaks which wasn’t really successful.

It turns out that I liked concert night the most! It was better because then kayaking I got to see the talents that other people had, ones I didn’t even know about. Kayaking was still good though.

The funniest thing that happened at camp for me was when my partner and I fell off our kayak. You're probably wondering how this could happen. Well, this incident occurred when I dipped my hand in the water. We then rocked for a few seconds and then WOOSH!..... Into the DEEP the blue sea.

My goal was to be an AMAZING camp leader and show my team how to be more responsible and respectful like I said on my past blog post. I think I actually achieved that goal successfully. Well, maybe I didn’t show SOME people a lesson. Anyways, I’m still proud of myself and my team!

I enjoyed camp because I think that achieved my goal, got to meet new people and hung out with my AMAZING friends. I can’t wait until the next camp!

Camp

“Yes It’s CAMP!!!!”I shouted to myself. Did you know that from years 5 to 8 classes they have their own camp at Point England School. It’s starts mostly every year and mostly at the start of the term. It’s my turn and I am a year 6 so I will get the opportunity to be a leader
What I was most looking forward to at camp was the Get Lost.In kayaking I came second place in rowing   but not far behind. At last Get lost I was nearly first place I really enjoyed it because once you play you get an adrenalin rush and you race so fast to get all 10 tasks done. Kayaking was cool because I fell into the sea and out of my kayak. Then we had a bombing competition off the groin aka it's a large and kind of long rock.
. The Funniest moment at camp was when Francis,my friend hit a rubbish bin!!! It occurred because our camp teacher told us that who ever can do the goofiest walk all the way to their tent will get some points. Then Francis pulled my shoulders down and then we went past the bin and “wack!!!”.

My Mum and Dad came down to help with the dinner and my Grandpa (Pop) and my cousins came down to see me every night!!! I can’t believe that he took time off to see me...
My goal was to be a very well and organised camp leader. In the end I thought that I was good but could do a bit better at arriving to the events. I loveee camp because it gets me away from my annoying sister!!! That’s what I like about camp and plus, it was only $60 dollars!!! For two nights and three days that was the best and I mean best camp I’ve ever been to.

Space Nut - Historical File

I have been reading a story set in the future called Space Nuts Light Speed by Simon Cooke. Just like in this story, I have written a historical file about an object we use on earth, that someone could read about in the future.
Back in the ancient times people use to use safety matches to light candles or start fires under their control. To light a match you must hold the match in the middle but firmly. Put the match at the end of the striker. After that quickly slide the match on the striker. Do not slide too hard or fast because too much pressure will break the match. Sliding it too lightly will not light the match. These days people use their very own fire zapper. It's a gun used to do all the things a lighter or a match can do.

Learning to write Introductions that hook in my audience

I have been learning to hook my audience in.
Here are 3 introductio0n options, which one do you like best?

1. Sunday night I have a mix of dreams and nightmares, so I keep waking up and getting tired and tired and more tired. Finally I have a dream, and straight after 30 seconds (Not exact)
“Splat!!! goes my dream” Now you know how my Monday mornings are.....

2. Every Mondays I get up half asleep. Something that perks me up is a very nice FRIGHT!!!!
I wish someone would just scare me every time I wake up?

3. Mondays are so suffering, It’s like having a Christmas present so awesome then you realize it’s just a dream. Straight after that I then say it was just a dream. Then I groan in agony!!!

Pt England School Picnic

How many people normally come to your picnic? Well, we had over 600 kids come to our school picnic. We were even lucky to have a sunny day after Thursdays heavy rain. We were so happy.
Finally, arriving at the picnic I quickly put my bag down and rushed to the volley ball game .I played for a little while but then I started to get bored so then I headed down to the beach.

So I started to play with the gooey clay.I made little pottery with the clay and it soon dried up into a beautiful garden pot. My arms were getting tired so I went up and had my morning tea.

All in all, it was a great picnic. Lots of fun, friends and family and my favorite kind of a day.
