We are learning to summarise the main points of a paragraph - Korobeau

WALT We are learning to summarise the main points of a paragraph.

Seals are mammals that live in oceans all over the world. All of the seals at antarctica are non - eared. These seals have lots of blubber to keep them warm.

Seals have thick short hair on their street lined body to keep them warm. They have flippers to help be superb swimmers. They most of the time seals are in the sea.

Seals are fast and graceful in the sea but on land they are slow and clumsy. They haul themselves when they want to have a rest. But when they want to they lay some pups.
Most of the common seals are crab eaters there are 30 million of them. And they eat krill.

Did you know that leopard  seals can’t move fast on land? So penguins are not afraid of them but under water they are very afraid of seals.

When  winter comes in Antarctica the only seals that can take the. Coldness of winter

is the Wendell seal but the other seals are gone to find another place to stay.

Incident at the Shops - narrative by Jonita

On a cold Wednesday morning when I was on my way to school, something caught my eye. Strolling past, I noticed a suspicious sight with a dozen police investigators in front of the dairy. A body bag was seen too. I was trying to see what was going on, but a police woman blocked me from the view.

I then remembered that when I went to get breakfast earlier on in the morning, there was no investigation sight there. I asked the lady what happened, and she said that a girl was run over. Looking around to see if anyone was coming, I saw the body bag and opened it. I couldn’t believe who was in there.

It was Sydney Robinson, my best friend. Staring at her face, I noticed there weren’t any marks, besides her scar that she had all her life. With only one huge bruise on her back, there were no serious injuries done. Then a thought crossed my mind, was this done on purpose? I was sure to find out.

Eager to know who did the awful execution, I asked everyone if they were the last ones to see her when she was alive. With no results, I forgot about her brother, Cato, then hurried to speak with him. Unwilling to talk to me, I was getting pretty annoyed with him. Until he admitted he’d done something unbelievably horrible. “I did it”, he said with pain in his voice. “Did what?”, I replied. “I killed her.”

Becoming furious, I grabbed him, and dragged him all the way to police station. “He did it! Take him, take him! He even taped himself killing her.”, I shouted. “Thank-you”, he then said. But what for, I kept on asking myself. Unfortunately, that was the last time I saw him, but I never forgot about Sydney.

Skinks - by Taamai

There are 2 type of lizards that are native to New Zealand, Skinks and Geckos. Tuataras are native too, but they are not lizards.

Their habitats can be anywhere on the seashore, rocky areas, cold places and in the forest  and on the ground. We have to protect the area they live in because skinks are protected.

Skinks have small eyes but can see really well. They have to blink so that their eyes can keep clean and moist.

Sinks are mainly carnivores. They eat insects, spiders and bugs. Sometimes they like to eat fruits from trees.

Skinks have predators like birds and Tuataras. They can run really first to escape their enemies. Skins lose their tail when they are escaping their predators but it grows back.

I am glad that Sinks are protected so that they are in New Zealand for ever.

Esrah's Van Gogh Replica

Having to duplicate a painting by Vincent Van Gogh was very difficult, the most hardest thing was the smooth background . The wonderful Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear and pipe Van Gogh, The painting of the cut ear is magnificent ( painted 1889) . Here is a critique of mine and his painting:

The texture is comparable because, the mood is gloomy and well, dark. The only light part is on the jacket with specks of white. As you can see I have tried to flick of white on the hat, like Vincient Van Gogh.

I have attempted to paint (on the hat) in a flower patterned technique. My chin is darker than his, mine is blackish brown , his is light brown . My painting is a bit messy, but I am quite happy with it.Up close mine is all over the place with colors.

The feeling is dark and gloomy, I don’t think that he was happy at the time because he just cut off his ear.Did you know that there have been stories of how it got cut off, The first story is that he threatened his flat mate Paul Gauguin with a razor, Van Gogh got so angry he cut his left ear lobe off. The second story (That I think is no true, but I don’t know) is that he cut his left ear lobe off and gave it to his girlfriend.

I am happy with the image of the face, and the hat. I think it looks unique .However am not happy with is the black outline, I think it is too thick. It looks like he has no chin.

I could improve my work, by making the cloths smoother and the background smoother too. Next time to not put colors everywhere.I think I would have shade out the chin and the face.
The smoke on mine is grey so I would love to make it white, and I have too much smoke . At the bottom of the background the length is not the same.

I think that he is a magnificent artist. I’m sure there will never be someone that can paint in Van Gogh style.

Swimming vocab in sentences

As I entered the pools a big wiff of chlorine and chemicals came and hit my nose.

Flutter boards help people float in the water well swimming.

Rinsing off is what everybody has to do before going in the pool.

Water was dripping wet on my shorts  and I was very cold.

Our teacher told us to come into the pool when I hopped in the pool I stuck my head in the water and when I pulled my head back up and my eyes started to sting.

When I was swimming it was hard to get my breath when I was swimming I have to stop swimming to breath.
When I hopped out of the pool I got very freezing.

Writing about Art - Van Gogh's Sunflowers

The Sunflowers are one of Vincent Van Gogh's famous painting. It looks amazing  and cool The size of Van Gogh painting is 73 92 cm that very big for a painting.

Vincent van Gogh had rough and bumpy painting. His painting were so bumpy that you can see where the paint went. This man use light colours to show when his happy,
and dark colours to show when he's angry.

The thing I like about this painting is that he used bright colours like yellow, orange, brown and red. What I don't like about this painting is that he put too much paint on it and I don't like that.

Vincent van Gogh painted the sunflower because his friend Paul Gauguin was coming to him. He painted the room yellow and put paints on the walls. But paul did not came and Van Gogh.

This is one of the most famous painting in the entire earth. And Vincent van Gogh is one of the most famous artist in the entire world.

Art Writing and Marking of paragraph

This bright yellow painting of sunflowers was painted by Vincent Van Gogh It was about 73 to 92 centimeters  big. It was well known in 1888 and it was painted with oil paint.

The lines on Vincent Van Gogh painting was very very  thick and bold not normal lines. So he had to spend lots of money on paint. That’s mean he was starving because he no money  to buy food.

The way that I think of Vincent Van Goghs painting of sunflowers is it is very bright and happy for people around the world. When I look at it it reminds me of happiness and bright colors. What I don’t like  about his painting is the paint is very very thick and bumpy.

I think he never painted the sunflowers for fun. He painted the sunflowers for his friend that was coming over and his name was Paul Gauguin. Because
his walls looked  empty so he decided to decorate and draw sunflowers that’s why I think he drawn the sunflowers.

What I think about Vincent Van Gogh's artwork. I think it looks amazing and cool so that what I think about Vincent Van Gogh artwork.

Sunflowers Critique by Antonio

Here are my Markings for my writing.

A extremely famous painter Vincent van gogh painted the well known picture sunflower. The sunflower was oil painted and did you know it was 73 x 92.  it was well known in 1888 when van gogh painted it.

The lines on Vincent van gogh’s painting were very thick bold lines not like normal one’s that other painter do. Van gogh’s texture is thick and bold not like the other artist that paint. The space that van gogh uses is that there is no spare spaces and that the colour is vibrant and colourful but show the colour yellow which means happiness.

The way I think about Van Gogh's paintings about the Sunflowers is that the paintings look very realistic. His painting are all beautiful and, I think it would be a awesome decoration for Paul Gauguin in his room. Why I think its interesting is because it reminds me of young and death and also happiness.

I think Van Gogh painted it because he was happy and he was so excited to decorate Paul Gauguin’s room and he was a very sad man with a sad life. I think that Van Gogh thought that it was going to be perfect for Paul Gauguin’s room. Why he painted it is because he was excited thats why he put yellow in it.

The way I look back at the writing I just did it just that it made sense and all the things that would make a paragraph. I think Van gogh lived a sad life, and some times he was cheerful and i think his sun flower paintings a very valuable. He got lots of money 40,000,000,000 dollars is the record.
