Tennis Coaching

Tennis is a common sport played in Spring and Summer. We started learning how to play tennis at school and boy was I excited about that. I couldn't wait.

When we got to the courts I felt a little bit nervous and excited at the same time. What if I miss the ball when someone serves it to me? If I did, I would probably be the worst tennis player in history.

Our coach, I mean our professional coach Marcel taught us how to do a forehand. A forehand was really easy. We learned how to do that hit in badminton all ready. All of us were pro's at it.

After learning the forehand we played a rally called King or Queen. It was like a real game of tennis. If you won, you would stay on and challenge another opponent. At the end if you were still the Queen or King you wouldn't have to do the awful punishment, which was 20 star jumps.

Tennis was a game I needed to play more often, because I LOVED it. It really got me going. I can't wait to play tennis again.

Ice Cream Comets

Did you know that a comet is made out of ice cream?(Just jokes)It is really made out of rocks,ice,and gas.Can you believe that the comets tail is not always at the back,when the comet is coming near the sun the tail is at the back.But when it passes the sun the tail is in the front.It is like the tail has to stay away from the sun I think.

As we were all waiting I really wanted to start,because when we finish making our comment we could eat it our comment .Mr Sommerville and Miss Garden had just finish and that mean that we were able to start now.We were all siting up to go first,I was lucky that Miss garden picked me and some other people to go first.When we got I got my Ice cream in my hand it was already melting so I had to start moving outside.

I was given duct for my ice cream so I started to roll it around my ice cream.When I was finish I got a cone.The dust wasn't real dust it was biscuit crumbs,Hundreds and thousands,also chocolate sprinkles.When I took my first lick is was really nice, that it made me wanting to have more dust on my ice cream.

Then there were the boys turn to put there dust on their ice cream,as they got their dust they kept no scavenging for more
dust. Lucky that Mr Sommerville was there because there wouldn't be any for other people.I poked my thump into my cone and it made a hole in my cone.

Willow Park Camp

The day I had been waiting for finally arrived, it was Riverside camp at Wilow park. I had all my things packed and ready to go for an exciting week at camp, I wonder how I will feel down at Wilow park for the first time?

When I was in the bus, it was very hot, I was waiting for the doors to open for some nice fresh air. Then finally we have made it there, I had sweat coming down from my head. I ran out before every body and sat down waiting for what task we are doing for today.

The team I was in was with Luke, our group name was Fist Pumpers. My most exciting day of the week was the food fights with our team leaders. It was revenge for me, and my time to shine by throwing sponges at every body.

I’ve liked my holiday at Willow park for the first time, and thanks to Miss Bush I went. I’m so looking forward to the next River Side camp.

When he got their he saw the lion trapped in a trapper’s net. The lion said,”Iam the king of the animals.Your just a little mouse.” So the mouse said,’’ I can gnaw.” So he kept on gnawing g till the net was broken in to little bits.” Oh thank you,’’ said the lion. “I will not laugh at you any more.

Ice Cream Comets

Did you know that some comets are edible? Well our class made some, out of Icy cold Ice cream an Ice cream cone and some biscuits and sprinkles. My comet had Chocolate ice cream on it,(Actually comets are made out of ice and dust).

There was people rushing out the door like a stampede. They were rushing because when the ice cream melts in your hands you will have a melted comet! Though I couldn't wait to eat mine even if it did melt. I ran out of the door as I was inpatient to start eating. I could taste it all ready.

The Rocks and Sprinkles were crushed and bashed to try and make it smaller, but it ended up looking like dust and not so much as rocks. When I tucked into my ice cream my teeth felt cold, my friend said that I had sensitive teeth. Even though my teeth felt cold I carried on do you want to know why? Because it was worth it!

The last lick felt good, also there was a sticky mess through out my fingers, but then I wanted more ice cream. So then I scavenged around for more because they were bringing trays out with delicious lumps of ice cream on it. I picked a lump of vanilla flavored ice cream off the tray and ate it, and by my surprise it was yuck! After that I was picking my teeth because I could feel bits of biscuits and sprinkles stuck in my mouth! Out side where they were putting on the biscuits and sprinkles, right beneath their feet was a huge crumbly mess!

After that I felt sick but I could still taste it. YUM!! I cant wait for another ice cream comet, and you should try it out, just be warned, you will have a big mess after. So if you are under the age of eight ask your parents!!

I knew this holiday in Napier wasn’t going to be the best ever, but it definitely wasn’t the worst. Our campground was pretty cool, and my favourite part of it was that there was a massive jumping pillow. This gave my friends an idea which we were eager to try out.

Our army of four dashed over to the pillow, cautious not to trip and fall.Outside it was dark and wet. The plan was just to play on the pillow for a while, have a short swim and then head for the showers.You’ll find out soon that it wasn’t very well thought through.

Getting on was easy, but when I tried to run to the other side I slipped straight away. I was a little bit sore but still wanted to try it again. Soon everyone got in to it and we would gang up on one person, to take them down.

In all the fun there were some low lights. I don't exactly know what happened, but it seemed that everything on the ground had ended up on the pillow. So when I slipped over I got lots of stinging cuts on my feet, knees and elbows.Ouch!

Not only did we get heaps of cuts, but we had to run back to the cabin in our towels. It was embarrassing but all worth it because we had heaps of fun on the giant jumping pillow.

Rita swims With The Turtles

I got the most amazing opportunity to visit the beautiful island of Samoa. As I was just sitting there watching the turtles in fear thinking about what will happen when I hop into the water, was so dumb of me. I was wasting the most best chance of getting to swim with turtles. Luckily me and my relatives went while the sun was setting. It was so pretty.

“C’mon Rita come in they wont bite” my cousin named Peter yelled out in Samoan. I could see the expression on his face was HAHA you scared pants. Glancing to the right side of the shore I could see that my other little cousin named Methra was riding on a turtle. She made me look like a wuss because she is younger than me and she was already in. Out of the blue I stood up walked in and touched a baby turtle. Just like that.

Then suddenly somebody seized my hand and dragged me into the water. I was so surprised to see that it was my one and only Auntie Sela it was so lucky she was strong because she pigi banked me because I was so scared. As I was on her back I could see how the Turtles treat each other. I saw one turtle slap the other turtle in the face I felt sorry for the one that got slapped.

As I was soaking my feet in the water, my cousin whose name was Cina asked me if I wanted to feed the Turtles, and obviously I said yes straight away. This was the best opportunity ever. As I was getting handed the Yese, as they call the fruit in Samoan, I could see that the Turtles were already eager to get some. Slink, the noise of the fruit being sliced sounded like, the fruit I was feeding them was almost finished. These Turtles are such fast eaters.

As the time flew by the sun was almost set and it was getting darker. So we ended our whole fun day with the best, feast, ever. Samoan Saka (which contained Taro), Fish, Chicken, Luau (Samoan food), and etc. So that was just one day filled with fun I just couldn’t wait for the rest of my week.

The books that have been given to us is to help us kids at Point England Primary school raise our academic levels. The book that I chose was The Fall Of The Blade by Sue Reid.

Australian Football Coaching

Isn't AFL an Australia game? I was intrigued when I heard there were Aussie Rules Coaches,coming in to teach us how to play. We are kiwi kids!

The most difficult thing to do is Drop Punt. It was hard to aim at your target, as we had a contest. My partner was showing off as he was felling confident saying” Mr S catch this” as he missed kicking it to the side.

The second thing that our coach was going to demonstrate, is how to hand pass. It looked easy when she demonstrated it but it was not easy for us. As I tried to hand pass it veered off in an different direction and I said “Watch Out! as loud as I could.

Now it was time to handmark. You have to make your hands into a W. I dropped The ball as we had a game it was not to easy as I said “ No!

I’m looking forward to putting all these skills into practice, when we get to a real game of AFL next week.

Maui and Matau

The first thing you have to do is get in to a circle and have some Rakau. You have to hold onto the Rakau and let go when the leader says maui or matau. Maui means move a step left, matau a step right.

AFL Coaching

Isn't AFL an Australian game? I was Intrigued when I heard there were Aussie Rules coaches, coming in to teach us how to play. We are kiwi kids!

The first technique we had to master was the drop punt, in Aussie Rule coaching.Then we got up to playing a game and our teachers were our targets.”I am going to get you Miss Garden” but I didn’t manage to hit her with the ball.

As we were mastering the hand pass technique, it was really painful hitting the ball to our partner. We had hit it hard to get to were our partner was standing. 'Ouch' my hand is sore!

The last technique was the high mark.It means if you catch it on a full, no one is allowed to tackle you or touch you.It is good thing if you are next to the goal post, because you can get a point for your team.” It not as easy as it looks” I thought to my self .

I’m looking forward to putting all these skills into practice, when we get to play a real game of AFL next week.

The polar Bear has a very thick coat that keeps him warm.They walk with four strong legs with bumps on their paws for a grip on the ice.

Polar bear cubs live with their mum for about two and a half years. His mum protected him, even taught him how to hunt food.

Polar Bears hunt seals for their main food,The Polar Bear waits until the seal comes up and takes a breath through the little hole in the ice. And when the seal breaths, the Polar Bear gets the seal with his long sharp paws, and throws him to the surface of the ice.

One Polar Bear that lived in the zoo lived for 41 years.A Polar Bear that lives in the wild lives for 20 years.

One of our tasks was to draw a picture matching a phrase that people say often like, jelly legs or run like the wind. In this picture, I draw a picture matching the phrase, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE. Badminton

Badminton is a game of concentration, and of quick movement. It takes a lot of perseverance and determination,to be really good at badminton. Sometimes you will miss but practise makes perfection.

Their are three different strikes for badminton, one of them is the backhand. To do this you need to put your thumb in the grip position then turn your wrist when you’ve done this, you have got the backhand you use this strike when the shuttle is coming at you or when its coming to your left. Then there’s the forehand it is like the backhand, but you don’t turn your wrist. You use this strike when the shuttle is coming to your right.
The way to grip is to get your thumb and put it where the logo of the company is on the racket, slide your thumb on top of it. Once you have done that you have just mastered the grip for badminton.

In badminton if you don’t have much concentration, it is going to be hard to win. Concentration helps you figure out what to do and when to hit the shuttle. I only wish that I had lots of concentration.

Badminton is one of the most exciting sports that I’ve ever played. One day you should play badminton, and experience it for yourself I tell you will be amazed about how cool it really is.

I have been reading a story set in the future called Space Nuts At Light Speed by Simon Cooke. Just like in this story, I have written a historical file about an object we use on earth, that someone could read about in the future.

Band-Aids are used when people might fall over and get a little scrape.The Band-Aid was invented in 1920 by Earle Dickson, who's wife always got cuts and burns while cooking. Earle was an employee at Johnson & Johnson, when he passed his idea on to his employer he started to produce and market the Band-Aid. Earle Dickson had a successful career and became the vice-president of Johnson & Johnson, then retired in 1957.

In the future I don't think people will use band-aids, maybe by then someone would have invented a machine that you can just put your sore under and it will be okay.

Rugby World Cup Opening

If you went into downtown Auckland, you could probably hear people yelling GO ALL BLACKS or GO TONGA!!!!!!!!!!!! We arrived at the queens warf and a swarm of people were crowded around the big screens showing the inside of the cloud. " We're nearly there!!" I said to my mum. Every where you looked you could see black, red and white. It would take a while until the fireworks would go off and then the All Blacks vs Tonga game would start but I was still excited.

We walked around and waited in sub way for our dinner until finally we got back to our spot and the intro started for the Rugby World Cup. It looked so cool and I wished that I was there. I was watching until I saw fireworks coming off the balcony of an apartment. BOOM!!!!! The fireworks had started, filling up the sky with colourful lights and smoke. It was truly spectacular. I took noticed that these stupid men were hopping onto the roof of a shop. One of the men was dancing until he fell through one of the vents. The opening was over and we went back home, only to find out that the All Blacks won 41-10. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! GO THE ALL BLACKS!!!!!

Learning to Play Badminton

Telling you about how I felt in the first session of badminton is incredibly embarrassing because that was the fist time I have played badminton.
As I had my eyes and ears listening and seeing on Donna I was frustrated because I had no idea what was she talking about. While she was talking we were listening to the instructions, finally she said to get a racket and get a body to work with. After that she told us how to hold the handle of the racket but I could not even do it, it was so hard.
We all had to change around when she says a word. But then she said to come she showed us a cool thing it was to close yours eyes and bring the racket around your body comes under your legs and hit the shuttle. Donna says to come down again then we all went ‘know you need a partner to challenge you’ says Donna. When my partner comes and challenge me I was useless but I played hard to win.
‘Room 17 come back down’ she repeated to us again Donna showed us another trick to do it was very tricky. Everyone needed to try and hit the shuttle into the rubbish bin it was tricky. Donna said ‘The other kids on the left side of the hall is playing against the kids on the right hand of the hall, we all stood up and tryed our hardest then it was the left hand side of the hall turn but the right hand team lost but we had another challenge but we still lost.

Badminton Coaching

When I walked past the hall, I saw that there were other classes playing a sport called Badminton which I haven’t heard of till it was Room seventeens turn to have a go. As soon as the tutor walked in through the doors of the hall, my hands started to tingle because they couldn’t stand any longer with out holding that racket. Anyways, when our tutor sat on the stage she introduced herself. Her name was Laureen.

As we all were waiting impatiently to get a racket each, we had to learn how to hold the racket first. We had to grip the racket loosely and we had to act like we were shaking somebodies hand, which was quite awkward. And we had to let our wrist move noting else. Laureen taught us some of the ways we should hold it. One was the forehand it is when we are trying to hit the shuttle really hard over the net or when ever you like. Then there is a backhand when you would like to serve the shuttle or just hit it randomly.

Finally the time had come to get our rackets. Everybody swung them around like those light sabers off Star Wars. But sooner or later each and every one of us got the hang of it. So then we started off by absorbing the shuttle and where abouts we should hit it. The shuttle has a plastic bottom with feathers to help it to fly.

Later we had to pair up with buddies. I paired up with Logan. He was not that good and neither was I. We kept on hitting the shuttle to far, to short, and sometimes we didn’t even hit the shuttle. But we did not mind.

After playing around with buddies we got to have a little game before we left. Laureen our tutor split our class in half. When that was sorted, we had to make a large circle and get five shuttles each. So the aim of the game was to have good grip on the racket and the way you should hit the shuttle. In the middle of the big circle was a bin for the shuttles to fly in to. Half of the class stood up the other sat down. And obviously some of us were good some were not.

At the end of the session I fest proud of myself because I hit two shuttles in the bin and because I had lots of fun. I can’t wait for next week if we play that game again I promise my self I would have improved even more.

ECONOMICALLY- As we will be getting quite a lot of money from the Rugby World Cup tickets and merchandise, that can be used for many things. For example, the money given or funded by people can be used towards children's schools, to get things that they need like, Better or bigger building/ Class rooms.

Also it can be used to get better learning tools for New Zealand kids to have better educations. Though it is not just the Children that need the help and the money, the people in Christchurch need it as well, and we all know why that is!!! So I hope that the government and the rest of the important people that are thinking of what to do for New Zealand and its future after think about what I have previously said.

There was a boy who came threw this trap door and ended up under some ones bed. He ended up in a alien's house.
The alien's name was Jelltin and he was scared of the little boy. Jelltin was scared so he went to go and get his mum.
His mum had a broom and poked the little boy and ouch said the little boy. Jelltin said how did you end up here.
It's a long story.

A few days latter they were best friends.
They were eating together playing too. But Jelltins friend had to go home and when he went Jelltins mum blocked him from coming back.

I Am Making Movies 2 Competition

Last week on Sunday some kids represented our school by entering the I am making movies 2, and they went down to the Museum for the Awards. I went with them because my mum was a part of representing our school.

As soon as we arrived at the Museum we went straight inside because it was raining and cold. A few minutes later we were getting ready to go into the elevators but there was a huge line so we had to wait a while. Not long after we were in the big room where the awards were, we were sitting on our chairs waiting for the it to start.

Just to let you know the hosts were Charlie of What Now and Sheryl of Outrageous Fortune. Anyway as soon as our school saw their movies they were happy because they won lots of the categories. When I saw their movies I was amazed because I thought that they were awesome compared to the other school’s one’s.

In the end my mum’s class won the SUPREME award so they received a digital video camera. I am so lucky that my mum took me because me and two other kids got to take a picture with Sheryl and Charlie.

Fat'u Feu'u Flax prints Stage One

Miss Muliamasili handed out sheets of paper divided into four pieces then Miss M instructed us to sketch four paintings from Fat’u Feu’u. After we had sketched all four Miss M then told us we had to enlarge so then Miss M gave us another piece of paper to enlarge one of our sketches and either Miss M or Miss Ouano . Then we had to get a felt and over line the sketch's it had to be done perfectly. My art was made in 1990 / 2000 it was made from Oil on board, wood, ceramics, sennit. It is a metaphor of Pacific warriors looking for land to people the pacific, in sailing canoes, taking their culture as they travelled.

Should we have one T.V free day per week?

I think we should all have , one television free day per week . There are many reasons for this.
This can give you a better bed time for school the next day, and will give you more family time to have fun with them .

Firstly if you turn off your T.V once a day per week, you will get to bed earlier and be ready for school the next day. You can also do great work in class and give your teacher a happy day.

Secondly you would be able to have, more time with your family to have fun . You could go to the movies with them and watch a movie together .

I believe that turning off your T.V once a day would be a good idea. Don’t you?

Should Kids be able to buy junk food?

I think that kids under 12 should be able to buy junk food. There are many reasons for this, one if a kid gets given some pocket money he/she would most likely buy junk food. Also a kid could practise spending money by buying junk food. They would be able to make their own decisions, and they would be ready for the future.

If their was a law that says children under 12 can’t buy junk food unless with a adult, some fast food outlets would lose their customers and could be shut down for not having enough money to meet their needs. Also, if children eat junk food they can get big and strong for physical sports.f

Kids can enjoy what they are eating not like when kids eat vegetables. Like when some kids aged 11 go to Hoyts they won’t be able to buy snacks, for the movie that want to watch. Even though junk food is not healthy people still buy it because it tastes great is cheap and because they like it.

I think that under 12s should still be able to buy junk food, don’t you?

Courtyard Makeover

In our group we have been looking at some of the things to redesign our courtyard.
In my group we decided to put in a basketball hop.We are putting in a basketball hoop so that more people will play in our courtyard.Instead of getting a blackboard with the basketball hoop on it we could just paint a blackboard on the wall and,get a hop that is really strong and it will not break.

We also wanted to add about 3-4 picnic tables to sit on and eat our lunch on and also because some times when we sit on the deck it has prickles.

We also thought of having sun shades as a shady area.We wanted sun shades because it will look good and when it is hot it will keep us nice and cool.

Partly Cloudy Film Review

The main characters in the short film Partly Cloudy are clouds and storks.

Where this story begins is in a place where you'd never imagine up high in the sky where the clouds are.

The story starts by showing the storks delivering puppies, babies and kittens. Then it shows a grey cloud there are other clouds that are more whiter. The grey cloud can't seem to create nice things like the other clouds. The stork that the grey cloud has is sort of scared of the things that the grey cloud makes.

In the end the grey cloud gets left behind by his stork then the grey cloud makes up a storm. He see's his stork with the other clouds and begins to cry then his stork comes back but this time he has something to protect himself.

I'd give this anamation a 7 it is funny in some ways but sometimes sad.

Bigger Better Faster Stronger Technology Project

Room 17 are trying to redesign the courtyard to make it Bigger Better Faster Stronger. Here is Donyae's design

We have chosen to attach a basket ball hoop to the wall in the courtyard so the other kids can play with it and they can shoot some hoops. We need it because the school doesn’t have enough Basket ball hoops. We have found a supplier and the price

The next item that we are going to install is a security camera so people won't steal some things from the courtyard. We don't want to get robed again.We have found security cameras from Trinity CCTV for $899.00 for a whole set.

We are going to put a bench in our courtyard so we can have our lunch and morning tea.The school needs it because there are not enough chairs for the kids to sit on.We have found school

Oktapodi

The name of the short movie I am reviewing is Oktapodi.

The cartoon Oktapodi was filmed in Greece, the film had a lot of funny parts .

The characters are the chef that works at the restaurant, and 2 octopuses that stayed in a water tank.

Most of the time the octopuses are apart from each other.The main message is never ever let go of the ones you love so much. I would like to show my family and friends this cartoon because it is about 2 octopuses in love.

Powhiri for Wake Forest University Visitors

Today we had a special assembly for special visitors who came from the Wake Forest University in United States. We all stood up and then Shanaia and Awhina welcomed them in. Then Feke did the karakia. After that the Pounamu sang a welcome song for them. Tevita stood up and did the welcome speech to them it was so long when he was a little bit half way the Pounamu group did a another song. Then there were two ladies who stood up and did a little thankyou speech and then another lady was holding are big black plastic bag and inside was are big white star. They gave it to us as a taonga and then they sang their anthem song. It was are cool song and when they were finished Mr Burt spoke in Maori and in English to our visitors then Mr Burt said, “ We do hugs.” When they were finished the Pounamu group sang are good bye song as they leave the hall.

Extreme Makeover Courtyard Edition

This week my class Room 17 get to redesign our own courtyard because, right now our courtyard doesn't really look like a normal place to play in. We get into pairs which makes it even better. I am in a team with Rita.

This is my team's forst design. We might modify it later as we get more information.

Me and Rita have chosen to add a Basketball hoop. We have chosen this because we want more kids to play in our courtyard. The second thing we have add was a garden. We like gardens because it looks beautiful and sometimes it smells nice. We think that planting flowers makes our courtyard more beautiful and might even bring more people to our courtyard.Picnic tables. We need picnic tables because on our deck we have prickles that sometimes go on your bum. We think that if we have picnic tables that no more prickles would came on our bum anymore.

I think we need a basketball hoop, Plant and Picnic table. This helps us to get more people to think that our courtyard is a cool place to play in. Basketball hoops is fun to play, Plants look pretty and picnic tables have no prickles

We were all like builders, we find out most of the prices off our ideas. Some of my ideas were found on trade me. Some off us even emailed the place to see if no one has bought it. One off the things me and my partner did was emailing Mr Jacobson. At the end I hope it goes out wonderful.

Fatu Feu’u Kite Designs

Every Friday Miss Muliaumaseali’i has been coming to our classroom to do some art with us. We have been drawing some designs from a Samoan painter and his name is Fatu Feu’u. Today we are going to print them on a Kete and I am going to tell you about my design.

My design is a flower with an arrow under it. I have draw some of my own stuff on it some I don’t know if I have ruined it so you can comment on it and tell me what you think about my design.

Room 17 is redesigning our courtyard. The following paragraphs are about what Brooklyn and I have designed so far:

Me and Brooklyn chose to put a basketball hoop in our courtyard because we think it will a be really fun. We also chose a basketball hoop because the courtyard is very boring and so more people can hang and play basketball. The price for the basketball hoop is $45 and the website to get it from is Sports Distributors.com.

I also got a backboard because if we bought it separate we could bolt it together. We could get the bolts from where my dad works at, EDL Fasteners. It costs $248 which is pretty expensive. Sports Distributors.com is where got it from.

There is a website called tapwaterwells.co.nz because that is where you could drinking fountains. Our courtyard needs a new drinking fountain because the the one we have now is too small. It doesn't say the cost but I got lots of photos of the taps we want.

Extreme Makeover Courtyard Edition

Room 17 is working through redesigning the courtyard outside our room so that more children want to play there.

We have sent survey forms to other classes and have been researching on the Internet. We have found a lot of interesting stuff.

We have wanted to replace the grass areas with concrete so that it could become a mini courtyard so that people can play and have fun. What I want is for the concrete to be nice and thick so that people can play games. I'd like to have it so people can play cards on the courtyard because in the breeze it to crowded and sometimes people flick it and then you lose. A 25 kg bag cost 8.50 we are still thinking whether we could possibly do or not.

We are going to possibly put in a basket ball hoop but we would have to bolt it in. I want to have a basketball hoop because then I can play basketball with my friends. It will be fun and when I have nothing to do I can play basketball. I am still trying to find information about the basket ball hoop.

Serena and Moala's Courtyard Designs

We are redesigning our courtyard.
Our first idea is to put some fake mushroom chairs in our garden. We chose it so we can sit and eat our lunch.We need them so we can not sit on the deck. We found Mushroom chairs at Bed Bath and Beyond for $130 each.

Our second idea is to put log seats in the corner of the courtyard. We like them because it is just better for ouryard because more people can sit on them.We found one from the country log chairs it is $60.00 each.

Our third idea is to put up a basketball hoop. We chose it so we can play with it every day if we are bored.We need it because there are not enough basketball hoops in our school.We found it in the basketball hoops store they are 212.00 each.

What we have found out.
We had found out to concrete the whole courtyard smootly cost $7-8000!!!!!

We truly think that the parents should come and help so it can be more cheaper than paying a builder.

Design and Make a Marble Track

This morning Miss Ouano told us that we are having a challenge, I felt really nervous because I might get it wrong.
We had to use 6 pieces of news paper and 1 meter of cello tape to make a tunnel. we had to make a tunnel, and it had to turn once.

We rolled two pieces paper into a tube and cut one hole into the paper, and stick it into another tube. My group went for my idea. my idea was to cut a hole in the middle of a paper tube.

I felt sad that my group didn't finish doing the tunnel, but we went pretty good. We were nearly going to finish our tunnel.

Next time we will do the challenge,we will plan the marble slide and then build it.

Presenting in Wellington

“Oh no come on Kingston get your stuff! ” I said to myself. As soon as I was up I went straight to put my uniform on and make my lunch.

On the 19th of May the Pt England Ambassadors went to Wellington and I am one of them. As soon as I got to school I went straight to the office to get my jacket and netbook. As all the ambassadors arrived to school, Mr and Mrs Burt made sure we were all at school and ready to go.

Stopping at the airport made my friends and I happy because we were all really desperate to go on the plane. As soon as the plane departed from the airport my ears started to hurt badly, but as much as I wanted to cry I just put up with it. Anyway on the plane my friends and I logged onto our netbooks and played a game called Burger Space.

“OK troops off the plane now” Mr Burt instructed to us. Soon we were trying to find a cab to take us to the Te Papa Museum, then suddenly we found one. After we had finished exploring the Museum we got ready to go and present our presentation. Before that we had a practice.

Minutes later everybody was in the hall waiting for us to present. I was a bit nervous because there were a lot of people but I still went on and did my job. After we had finished I thought that we had done a good job. We also got to go on our netbooks.

At the end of the day we had explored lots of places in Wellington and done heaps of stuff. We even had lunch at this place. To top everything off at the end of the day we went to a place called the Koru Lounge. It is a place where lots of rich people go and we went in. Everybody in there were surprised to see us in there, so we were lucky.

Suddenly the day started to end and we were just getting ready to go back to Auckland. At the end of the day I had lots of fun and had a good experience.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming, not exactly my favourite sport. But I guess it’s better than staying at school and doing work, plus it’s good exercise. And, maybe we’ll get free time, I thought to myself. Swimming can be pretty fun.... sometimes.

I was sitting on the edge of the pool, with my legs lazily dangling off the edge, when suddenly Mr Marks, our instructor in the big pool said, “Alright,Litia it’s time to get in the pool”. With a splash I was in the water trying to get warm by jumping around a little bit, until I got used to it. With my goggles on, and a powerful push off the wall I was off down the side of the pool.

Yay, I thought to myself as I looked up and saw the end of the pool was so close. I didn’t realize that I hadn’t been swimming for ages,so I was panting and wanted to just flop down and float in the pool. But I had to go back to the end of the line, so with a huge push I was out of the water dripping, and exhausted.

“Go Vivienne,go”, I shouted as I walked back to our line. Sitting down I watched my friends swim as I cheered them on. Whenever one of them stopped halfway, I made sure I kept cheering them on till they got to the end. All of them swum really, really well.

At first I didn’t really want to go swimming, but in the end I actually liked it and was looking forward to the next sessions.

Technology Challenge

When Miss Ouano explained to us that we all will be doing a technology challenge , I was really excited.Also she said that we had to be in a group of three.

The challenge was to make something out of six pieces of new paper that would start from the table and finish on the floor like a bridge. Oh we had to use a small marble to roll it down your bridge , we had to have a curve bit on our bridge as well.

As me , Caroline and Vanessa started thinking about what we were going to do for our challenge, we all came up with different ideas. My idea was to make pipe, I had the same idea as Vanessa. Caroline’s idea was to make a cylinder shape pole and it was fantastic, so we went with her idea.

I felt that my group did a really good job because we all worked together and we never wasted any time. Also we all had something we could do ,we never frighted over anything and we didn’t care that it was ugly. We didn’t care if we lost at least we got the job done and had lots of fun.

If we had chance to do it again I wouldn’t make any changes . Because I liked the way it was before, if we made a new one it will be more harder. It is better to make the same one you made before so you can finish early so it will be easy and you will already know what your going to do .
